AS4950 Protocol Analyzer
Product: The AS4950 (ARGOSystems) or WireSpeed 622 (RADCOM) is the first market released OC12 Protocol Analyzer for ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode).
Challenge: To design and implement a self-morphing graphical user interface and network management system that would respond to unknown mixes of higher level protocol traffic riding on ATM. Data exchange between the host hardware and the (possibly remote) graphical user interface would have to be very quick and efficient, due to the fast transmission rates of the fiber optic networks being analyzed. The product would need to be industrial strength.
Solution: Giavaneers designed and implemented the graphical user interface (GUI) and network management system using pure Java, interfaced to a C++ host. At OC12 transmission rates (622Mb/sec) the system offers the following impressive features: Autodiscovery of Protocols displayed in hierarchical layers Real time statistics monitoring User friendly filter design for decode capture Real time and capture buffer decodes Innovative architectural support for decoupling the GUI from the host hardware, thereby allowing for remote access
